Warner Woodworth, from Brigham Young University,
has been named the winner in the External Impact category. This award is
given for positive and visible impact on business or organizational management
practices in social impact and/or environmental areas.
Woodworth works to transform management schools into institutions which integrate various business models to improve society. A genuine social entrepreneur, as well as professor, Warner dedicates his professional and personal life to using Organizational Behavior and Strategy techniques to reduce human suffering. With a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, he has worked for 20 years fighting Third World poverty and building self-reliance. He has 10 books, 160 articles, hundreds of papers-many co-authored with students-on social enterprise design, sustainability, microcredit impacts, and Corporate Social Responsibility. Additionally, Warner consults with corporations and NGOs worldwide, seeking to benefit society through leading-edge strategies for poverty alleviation. He pioneered MBA courses like Microcredit, NGO Management, Third World Development, and Social Entrepreneurship.

He has authored 10 books, more than a hundred articles and book chapters,
200-plus conference papers; he is also a consultant to Fortune 500 corporations,
multilateral institutions, as well as smaller firms. He also helped
create a one-hour documentary film (Small Fortunes) which premiered
at the UN's 2005 International Year of Microcredit, and has since been
shown on a hundred PBS affiliates. He co-authored the film's extensive
